Welcome to the Riata Rare Breeds Association

The RRBA strives to promote the breeding, training, and excellence among the rare breeds of Riata. It provides registration, regular shows, a studbook, and a source for owners to learn more about rare breeds. We offer awards programs for monthly shows, lifetime achievement awards, and rigorous grading days for studbook entry. The association constantly monitors the number of individuals in each breed, and when a breed becomes too large for the association, we encourage members to set up breeding programs and associations to continue the breed's survival. What's New at the RRBA

January 2010
The RRBA has just wrapped up its first season and is starting fresh in 2010 with tons of new features. In 2009, we held seven monthly shows and registered over 150 horses with the association from July to December. We featured and promoted the Anglo-Arab, Morgan, and Selle Francais, and were happy just to keep up and running. Now that the association is thoroughly established, we are incorporating new elements to make the association more fun and useful for everyone. Here's a peak at what's new for 2010:

x Horses can now be nominated for our Excellence Program. The program seeks to identify the exceptional performance and breeding equines of rare breeds, taking into account achievements with the RRBA, at outside shows, grading status and offspring achievement. More information on nominating horses for this exciting new program can be found under the programs tab.

x A new layout for 2010!

x Grading days will be held twice yearly, once in February and once in July. From these grading days, the first RRBA studbook will be established, and further breeding information and resources will be available to RRBA members.

x Breed promotions will be held once quarterly, in January, May, September, and December. This will feature the standard giveaways and breed information, as well as association updates.

x A show sanctioning program so members can hold their own RRBA sanctioned events.
